Deleting Subscribers CHALLENGE! YAY!!
UPDATE:
YouTube has removed the “delete subscriber” button from the page where you display your list of subscribers.
So never mind, I guess…
o_O
The purpose of this video was mainly to poke a hole in the competitive push for high subscriber counts and help get as many people as possible to focus on what’s more important here.
And as for what’s more important here, that’s up to you. The answer won’t be the same for everyone.
Dear YouTube,
How about giving us the option to view closed accounts all on one page or in one filtered view so we can remove them all with just a couple clicks?
…just a thought…

That’s why I updated the description box.
The answer to what you asked is in there.
*shutting comments off in hopes that people will just read that from now on instead of asking me over and over*

Wow, I didn’t know …
Wow, I didn’t know they took that away. Just took a look and sure enough, it’s gone.
Stupid move on YouTube’s part, but I guess that’s as much a matter of opinion as anything else.
Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll have to update the description box.

dag nab it comments not sticking. that would be neat if they had to tell why. it would weed out a lot!

I actually have …
I actually have done that, and one person (who’s inactive now) had the nerve to come back only to do more of the same! For every few i delete, more come out of nowhere to replace them, thus furthering a “multiple accounts to one page” theory. I wouldn’t be surprised if YT started to make it so you state a reason to watch a person’s page, and the subbed gets to decide their fates based on it, haha.

lol i wonder about …
lol i wonder about that too. i have thought about emailing ‘subs’ who have not made a single comment or sent a single note in the year or so i have been on here just to ask why they subbed. and if they don’t answer…just delete them! every now and then i go through and found accounts that were deleted, so i unsub them too! no wonder my numbers go up so slow…ha ha ha

haha, I feel the …
haha, I feel the same. There’s also so many requests from people who end up just whoring themselves around once you check their comment stream of “Thanks for the invite” posts. Subs, forget about it. I highly understand if they have lives, but if they’ve been subbed to someone for 6+ months without so much as a rating, then what’s going on?

DiCom catching up.
DiCom catching up.

Honestly I thought …
Honestly I thought that once they got suspended or closed their account that their subs automatically got taken away….obviously I was wrong. Thanks for making this video…it helped me to see how that really works.

Thanks, Lindsay – …
Thanks, Lindsay – Three cheers for obsessive MTM fans!!!
I really wish YT would make it a one click process because it’s such a ridiculously tedious thing to do. And accounts close or get suspended every day. I would love to know what the ratio is of active accounts to closed and suspended accounts on this site. I’m guessing if you take the total and split it, the larger clump would be the discard pile.
…Maybe Viacom will tell us in a few months when they take over the site.
;-P

This is totally …
This is totally random but I love that you use the font from the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Only an obsessive MTM fan like me would see that. LOL….
On another note…this video and message are truly wonderful and original and fantastic. FAVORITE!

Lindsay

why do you care? not bein mean just want to know
April 10th, 2010 at 11:36 am
lol, i’ve done this …
lol, i’ve done this, and i didn’t lose a single subscriber, cos i only have 1 XD
and i tell him when im adding a video anyways. but, on a more serious note, when someone closes thier account, it should auto-unsubscribe and undo everything else they have done except their comment and video responses. would help even keep youtube running smoother, or at least leaner
April 10th, 2010 at 11:36 am
omg you mean people …
omg you mean people care about how many subs you have or don’t have? for goodness sake…like the sub4sub thing…if they don’t post videos why should i sub. if they don’t post videos why do they want me to be friends just to send me other peoples videos i don’t have time for. sighhh, some days my age shows on here….ha ha ha…
April 10th, 2010 at 11:36 am
The weird thing was …
The weird thing was that after I posted this, the new subscribers within a couple days added up to slightly more than double what I removed. Of course, as soon as I uploaded the next video, several defected. I swear, the people who get emotionally tied to these numbers must be in need of medication by the end of a solid week, LOL!
April 10th, 2010 at 11:36 am
lol…dude…i …
lol…dude…i found this on someone elses account oddly. and funnier still, i had just gone through and deleted closed accounts, etc and lost 10. but i did not start with the high numbers like some of you!

I know! I hate …
I know! I hate that! I stay away at night wondering about comments on my videos that I don’t know about. Yuk!

AH, so this might …
AH, so this might explain why I received a private message exactly like that recently. Had no idea why the person had done that.
April 10th, 2010 at 11:36 am
no its quicker as …
no its quicker as saying message cant be sent when u pick the first(25) lot then the next.i just sent a text saying “test” and then the next page either sends or stops because someone is no longer on youtube(it will say a subscriber is no longer available or such ..it is quicker but u have to go through the list once one is detected. It can narrow it down to whos left on your channel..

I never thought of that. Wouldn’t that be more arduous, though?
